Privacy, plainly.

This is a personal website. It has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comment boxes, and it never asks you to type in personal information. This page explains the small amount of data that is collected when you visit, and why.

Analytics

The site uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand which pages and talks people find useful. It records things like the pages you view, links and buttons you click, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.

Visitors are anonymous: no name, email or account is attached to your visits. PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and your browser’s local storage so that repeat visits can be counted. Analytics requests go through krishagel.com/ingest and are stored in PostHog’s United States cloud, in an analytics project Kris shares with the other websites run by his studio, Hat Rack Group.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS Amplify and CloudFront). Like any web host, AWS processes your IP address, browser user agent and the pages you request in order to deliver the site, and keeps standard access logs for security and troubleshooting.

Fonts and images are served from this domain, so loading a page doesn’t send your information to font or image providers.

Email and scheduling

If you email kris@krishagel.com, your message and address are used only to reply and to follow up on what you asked about. They are never sold, shared for marketing or added to a mailing list.

The “Schedule a consultation” button opens a Google Calendar booking page. Anything you enter there is collected by Google under Google’s privacy policy and shared with Kris so he can meet with you.

What the site doesn’t do

There is no advertising, no ad network, no retargeting and no sale of personal information. The site isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.

Many links point to other sites, such as news articles, podcasts and event pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Your choices

You can block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, or use a content blocker, and the site will still work normally. To ask what data relates to you or to have it deleted, email the address below.
